Explanation of Download Choices
- Desktop Releases
- The desktop releases provide a standard system for the average desktop user.
- This is a live system that can also install itself to a system.
- Everything Releases
- The everything releases provide a complete system for the power user.
- This is a live system that can also install itself to a system.
- This contains servers.
- This contains all of the source code and build system needed to compile kevux from scratch.
- Router Releases
- The router releases provide a system specifically compiled to function as a router.
- These releases tend to have small footprints.
- Individual Release Parts
- These are a collection of squash images.
- Each image represents a particular directory from the Desktop Release.
- Custom Kernels
- Different kernels and kernel modules outside of the standard are supplied here.
- Advanced Installation Scripts (TKIS)
- These are advanced installation scripts designed to compile the system from scratch.
- These are not for normal installation and should only be used by expert users or programmers.
- As of 0.9.2, the tools directory that contains a pre-compiled x86 toolchain has been moved outside of the tkis scripts and into its own download under the name of tools.
